Note: To save paper, the pattern does not include pieces for the skirt tiers (simple rectangles). Instructions are provided for drawing the pieces directly onto your fabric.
Suggested fabrics: Cloud works best in non-stretch, light to medium weight woven fabrics. The designer prefers a stiff cotton fabric for this piece as it can hold its voluminous shape. Choose a rayon/viscose fabric if you want a more romantic, flowy look. You can also make the Cloud Dress in a sheer fabric such as chiffon and wear it over a simple slip dress for a more elegant look.
The gingham sample dress is made from a 52% linen/48% cotton fabric (6.19 oz./210 gsm) and the petrol blue sample is made from cotton poplin (3.7 oz./125 gsm).
Fabric requirements:
Top (one tier): 55"" (140 cm) wide fabric: 50.4"" - 94.5"" (128 - 240 cm).
Midi dress (two tiers): 55"" (140 cm) wide fabric: 100"" - 167.7"" (254 - 426 cm).
Note: For both versions in sizes 6 - 9, the tier pieces are cut in the opposite grain direction. Be sure to keep this in mind when buying fabric. If you want the tiers to have the same grain direction as the rest of the dress, consider buying more fabric than indicated above.
Sizing: 1 - 9 (approx. UK 6 – 32, based on our ). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.
Choose your size based on your bust measurement. This dress is designed to have an oversized look. The recommended positive ease is 2"" - 3"" (5 - 8 cm) at the bust.
Notions: Interfacing; 6 buttons, 0.6"" (1.5 cm) wide.
